BTI develops first cytotoxic antibody against undifferentiated stem cells

A*STAR’s Bioprocessing Technology Institute (BTI) researchers have developed a monoclonal antibody that is able to specifically target undifferentiated human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) and cause them to undergo induced cell death. This could lead to safer stem cell use for clinical applications in the future.

 A*STAR and the Singapore Science Centre announced the winners of the A*STAR Talent Search (A*TS) 2008. Into its third year, A*TS recognises students who have excelled in the field of scientific research. Guest-of-Honour, Mr S Iswaran, presented the awards to the winners at the A*TS awards ceremony held at the Biopolis.

The Exploit-IP Programme organised the second TechLicensing Fair on 25 June 2008, following the successful launch of the Programme on 27 March 2008. The event was well attended by some 250 participants from 180 companies. There was much excitement amongst the industry players, especially the Growing Enterprises, which saw tangible value in the Programme. The Programme seeks to facilitate deal flows and to encourage open innovation amongst Singapore enterprises.
