We recognise technology alone may not sufficient to completely meet your needs. A*STAR works hand in hand with other agencies to create economic benefit for Singapore. For example, in the Science and Engineering sector, we have the Growing Enterprises with Technology Upgrade (GET-Up) initiative, which combines the resources of A*STAR, EDB, SPRING and IE Singapore to help companies enhance their competitiveness to meet the technological challenges.

A good illustration is the sharing of talent from the SERC Research Institutes with our local industry. Known as Technology for Enterprise Capability Upgrading or T-Up, the program provides companies with the opportunity to engage A*STAR research scientists and engineers (RSEs) full-time to work on R&D projects for a period of up to 2 years.

Overseas Market Development
The Double Tax Deduction (DTD) scheme by IE Singapore for market development aims to encourage Singapore companies to expand their overseas markets. It allows approved companies to deduct against their taxable income twice the eligible expenses incurred in market development activities. Management & Finance
SPRING Singapore provides support for local companies to defray the cost of engagement of external consultants to upgrade their operations under the Local Enterprise Technical Assistance Scheme (LETAS). In addition there is also a fixed interest rate financing programme known as Local Enterprise Finance Scheme (LEFS) that is designed to encourage and assist local enterprises to upgrade, strengthen and expand their operations.
